Resume Help

Here are ten resume tips to help you land your dream job!

1. Keep it clear and concise.
Aim for a resume that is 1–2 pages maximum. Focus on the most relevant experiences and skills for the job you're applying for.

2. Tailor your resume for each job.
Use keywords from the job description. Show how your skills match what the employer is looking for.

3. Start with a strong summary.
Write a short professional summary (2–3 sentences) at the top that highlights your experience, strengths, and career goals.

4. Focus on achievements, not just duties.
Instead of listing tasks you performed, describe what you accomplished. Use numbers or results when possible (e.g., “Increased sales by 20% in one year”).

5. Use strong action verbs.
Start each bullet point with powerful verbs like "led," "created," "managed," "designed," or "improved."

6. Make it easy to read.
Use clean fonts like Arial or Calibri, size 10–12. Organize sections clearly with bold headings. Leave enough white space.

7. Highlight skills and certifications.
Include a dedicated "Skills" section and list any certifications or technical skills relevant to the job.

8. Proofread carefully.
Even one typo can hurt your chances. Review your resume multiple times or ask someone else to proofread it.

9. Keep the format simple.
Avoid flashy graphics or complicated layouts unless you're applying for a creative role. Many employers use applicant tracking systems (ATS) that can’t read fancy formatting.

10. Update your resume regularly.
Even if you’re not job hunting, keep your resume updated with new skills, projects, or achievements.
